I read the article on why apple is breaking up with Flash, and it made me feel panicked, ...panicked for the people relying on flash, having jobs reliant on flash and the worry that must cause reading Apples side. From the article the main points I gathered were:
1. Adobe’s Flash products are completely proprietary (controlled completely by Adobe)
2. Apple believes the web should be open and not propriety
3. Designers should be able to design freely without relying on 3rd party plug-ins
4. Flash is not secure or safe
5. Flash is the cause for macs crashing
6. Flash performs poorly on mobile devices
7. Poor battery performance, the article states : "H.264 videos play for up to 10 hours, while videos decoded in software play for less than 5 hours before the battery is fully drained."
8. Flash was not designed for touch screens. It works better in a PC environment.
Then next thing you know....

Apple and Flash back in love... The article states: "We have listened to our developers and taken much of their feedback to heart," Apple said. "This should give developers the flexibility they want, while preserving the security we need." Adobe chimed in and they are encouraged by the move. Another positive is peoples lively hood relying on Flash will not go down the toilet and they can continue making money.

Class One
Whoo hooo! I am finely learning some coding.. and on my way to being proficient at webdesign <PHEW> ..can't wait to cross this off my list, and turn the panic of web design into second nature. When clients ask "can you build me a website?" I won't have to hang my head in shame, or even worse hack some poor excuse for a site together. I'm hoping to leave this class -confident and ready to keep learning and developing. Some of my little favorites are:
www.whataboutorange.com
my daily little addiction.. I could spend hours here, surfing, watching..oogling....or dreaming up time to make the endless- DIY projects (which i'm not usually a fan of, but Julie does such a great job of making the blog so inviting). I'm not talking kooky--crafty stuff, these are actually useful not "bird-house art" projects. Being a 50's modern mega-fan- I'm currently scheming to make there bottle top, 50's modern magnets.. sounds nerdy- but so fun.
www.designsponge.com
another little blog, I'm in love with, so beautiful, so clean...so inspiring. Covering home decor to design to product guides. Certainly somewhere I sneak to when the baba is sleeping.
www.veer.com
I know stock photos, but it's much more....(trust me) great inspiration, cool wallpaper, and lots of ideas. Their layout always feels fresh and non cluttered. A nice place to post your portfolio. And it is also the home of summer fun--- with the yearly Summer Activity book- which is now online.
